The butterfly is designed to hang from the ceiling. A tug on the little house suspended below will start a gentle beating of the wings. Placed near a window it will respond to the breeze by rotating, and when the light is right, cast pretty shadows on the wall. Lovely for a child's room too It was inspired by the fantastical butterflies that adorned the outside walls of our houses in the 1950's and 1960's along with the ornamental fretwork on New Zealand's colonial villas.
